Enjoy Your Stay!

Please take a minute to review our polices before you arrive so that you can relax and unwind when you walk in the door.  

Arrival & Departure

Standard Check- in time is 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM. We always want to greet our guests, so please let us know in advance of your estimated arrival time.  Should you plan to arrive later, please call to make arrangements. Miller-Dunham House Bed and Breakfast reserves the right to request ID for all guests upon arrival. 

Guest Rooms are located on the 2nd floor, and there is no elevator.  Should you need assistance with your luggage, kindly notify Innkeepers ahead of arrival.

Check -out is any time prior to 11:00 AM.  When available, late check-out may be applied between 11:00 am - 1:00 pm with an additional fee of $25. applied 

Breakfast

Our full-service Breakfast at the Miller-Dunham House is homemade, but not your every day fare...and is not to be missed!  We take great pride in our breakfast 5-star reviews and work hard at providing "crowd pleasing" sweet & savory meals.  So relax and enjoy... there's no hurry. 

We serve at 8:30 AM and will always start with a dish using fresh fruit in season and will include juice, coffee, or your choice of hot teas, along with homemade baked goods. For early risers, coffee is available earlier to take back to your room or enjoy on the enclosed garden porch.  We want this to be your home away from home...so slippers & PJs are welcome.

We accommodate food allergies and other dietary restrictions such as dairy or gluten-free, vegan or vegetarian.  Please note during the booking process to give us at least 48 hour notice. 

Room rates remain the same and pricing may not be exchanged with an extra add on, whether you are joining us for breakfast or forgoing this pleasure.  Should you need, we can work with you for an earlier breakfast to go.

Guest Rooms & Common Areas

Coffee/tea is located on the first floor dining area, on the buffet.  Our guest refrigerator is stocked with complimentary bottled waters, and drinks located in the first floor common area.  In addition to your suite, please make yourself comfortable in the living & dining room, indoor garden porch and patio terrace.  These common space are shared by our guests.  Please note, due to health codes, the kitchen is only for use by the owners.

For the health and safety of our guests and residents, there is no smoking permitted at all on both the Miller-Dunham House premises as well as the entire property.  Additionally, should there be any evidence of candle burning; smoking in your room: including vaping, or smoke odors, there will be a $500 non-refundable cleaning fee charged to your credit card on file.

We provide our guests with privacy during their stay, therefore we do not enter your room unless requested; however, upon request housekeeping will service your room with fresh towels, toiletries, and water with glasses, remove the trash and make the bed. Bed sheets will be changed on the third day of an extended stay.

Our quiet time is from 10:00pm until 7:00am as guests may already be resting for the night.  Internet is provided.  Kindly keep media at an appropriate volume.  

Children

Due to the intimate nature of the Inn and safety reasons, it is our pleasure to welcome all guests over the age of five. Parental guidance is required as children may not be left unattended.  The Commander Room has the capacity to add a cot.

We're Dog Friendly

Our Inn is Dog Friendly, and we have plenty of fenced in area for your dog to play. Dogs of any size are welcome for an additional fee of $25 per stay.   If you are planning to travel with your pet, call prior to booking to verify availability of a pet-friendly room which are either Commander or Tidewater.  Dogs may not be left in the room unattended. 

Sorry, cats are not permitted.

Healthy Practices

  • A spotlessly clean inn is always our goal. 

  • Our reservation system collects payments and processes receipts electronically prior to guest arrivals

  • Our keyless entry system eliminates the need for any keys​

  • All guest rooms and common areas are cleaned and sanitized regularly 

  • We will not enter guest rooms during your stay, but will deliver fresh towels and remove any trash on request

  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the Inn

  • Ongoing practices include regularly disinfecting surfaces and furniture

Accessibility

Miller Dunham House is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.  Towards that end, we are working to improve the accessibility of our website and to adhere as possible to the Web Content Guidelines (WCAG 2.0, Level AA) published by the World Wide Web Consortium(W3C)

Please know that we are always happy to discuss our facilities, accommodations, and services by telephone or email, and any reservations that you wish to place can also be placed by telephone.

Cancellation Policy

We at the Miller-Dunham House understand that plans can unexpectedly change. We make preparations, including purchases based on reservations. We are happy to offer a credit/gift certificate for a future stay equal to the amount paid for reservations cancelled at least 14 days prior to arrival.  Should a cancellation occur before the 14 days arrival time; a full refund will be offered minus a $25. cancellation fee, per room reserved.  The $25 cancellation fee also applies to changes to your arrival/departure date that result in a shorter stay. 

 

Reservations cancelled less than 14 days prior to your arrival date will be charged in full, unless your room (s) is re-booked by another party. We will make every effort to re-book(s) and will refund any room(s) we are able to re-book minus a $25 cancellation fee per room reserved.

 

Minimum Stay Policies


On weekdays, Sunday – Thursday, we are always happy to accommodate a one-night stay during off season.  During weekends; Special Events; High Season & Holidays there is a two-night minimum stay.  Some exceptions do exist depending on availability.  It’s always a good idea to contact us directly secure your stay.  

Direct reservations may only be held with required deposit applied at time of reserving a room. 

Cancelation Policy

 

The Miller-Dunham House does not take responsibility for changes to your reservation due to inclement weather, unforeseen changes to travel plans, personal sickness or injury, or family emergencies. We do recommend trip insurance for assistance with these unforeseen occurrences.


Cancellations MUST be made by phone or email.

Any reservation made on a third-party website must be cancelled through the third-party website. 

If you made your reservation through a third-party website such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Bed & Breakfast.com or Airbnb, you are bound to the cancellation policies agreed to when booking on their website. The cancellation policies on their website may differ from our standard cancellation policies when booking directly with The Miller-Dunham House Bed & Breakfast.  Any reservation made on a third-party website must be cancelled through the third-party website.
